Over the next eleven days, you will experience the essence of Bhutan that led the king to wish that his nation's future would concentrate on maximizing its Gross National Happiness, rather than its Gross National Product. The most stunning valleys and mysterious pilgrimage sites are all here, just waiting to be explored. Tour Paro and Tongsa before heading to Jakar. Spend three superb days in the stunning Bumthang Valley. This sacred area is permeated with legends of Padmasambhava, the Indian Guru who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. The valley is also known for its wide-open countryside and clusters of houses, both uncommon in Bhutan. Visit the new Lhakhang, devoted to Guru Rimpoche, and adorned with spectacular murals. The four valleys are known for dense forests, monasteries, and their connection with the Pemalingpa lineage. The surrounding area is best explored by hiking. After touring Bumthang, drive to Gangtay for a night. Drive to Punakha, then travel to Thimphu for three nights. As well as the main sites of Thimphu, also spend a day hiking to Tango or Cheri, two magnificent monasteries on the edge of the Thimphu valley. Your tour will conclude with a wonderful and memorable day hike to Tiger’s nest. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
